About Me
“Painting is being prepared to give up a part of your soul in every painting you do.”
Amylou Jennings is a London based figurative landscape painter, living near London. She has a passion for painting cities and the people in it especially its vibrant life after dark.
She works primarily in Oils on Canvas and has been an emerging professional artist for just over a year. She trained under Natailia Avdeeva ROI for two and a half years on her intensive mentoring programme graduating in summer 2025 with a large Solo show is Chelsea.
She has been twice been selected and exhibited at the Chelsea Art Society Summer Exhibition, the Broadway Arts festival and also selected as a finalist for 'The British Art Prize' and being exhibited at the OXO Gallery on the South Bank.
Sometimes that means standing on a bridge at 3 am five nights in a row, waiting for that one perfect sunrise. And that’s one of the thrills of en-plein-air painting. You’re not just observing a scene, you’re part of it.”
London appears often in my work, not as a landmark-driven subject, but as a living presence shaped by light, weather, and passing figures. Rain, reflections, and artificial light are central elements, allowing colour and form to dissolve and re-emerge, suggesting memory, echo, and transience. Figures and vehicles are reduced to gestures, inviting the viewer to project their own experience into the scene.
These nocturnal cityscapes are less about spectacle and more about atmosphere — the quiet poetry of urban life continuing unseen, and the emotional resonance found in moments between arrival and departure.
